Thanks a lot lost_in_migration for providing supporting docs.
I strongly believe none will be affected with this correct interpretation of EB dependents must not use ebquota.
4. INA Section 203(e) provides that family-sponsored and employment-based preference visas be issued to eligible immigrants in the order in which a petition in behalf of each has been filed. Section 203(d) provides that spouses and children of preference immigrants are entitled to the same status, and the same order of consideration, if accompanying or following to join the principal. The visa prorating provisions of Section 202(e) apply to allocations for a foreign state or dependent area when visa demand exceeds the per-country limit. These provisions apply at present to the following oversubscribed chargeability areas: CHINA-mainland born, INDIA, MEXICO, and PHILIPPINES.
From the text highlighted above can we infer that EB principal applicant's PD will be applied to EB dependent (irrespective of whether the visa number is taken from EB or FB) ?

203(d) => Treatment of Family Members. - A spouse or child as defined in subparagraph (A), (B), (C), (D), or (E) of section 101(b)(1) shall, if not otherwise entitled to an immigrant status and the immediate issuance of a visa under subsection (a), (b), or (c), be entitled to the same status, and the same order of consideration provided in the respective subsection, if accompanying or following to join, the spouse or parent.
same status can be EB GC or just GC ?? If it is EB GC then this thread can RIP

i had a SLUD on AUG 21 ,
Thanks
In most cases the next action after CPO mail was within 5-7 business days. So keep your fingers crossed for the welcome mail. Follow the postman for your card arrival.
For me it happend within a span 11 regular days from CPO mail. 5th day after CPO mail, I got welcome notice in the mail and then 6th day from there I got my cards in the mail.
By the way, the online status still stays and it is in post decision activity. That is 12 days after I received my physical cards.

All officials have talked about processing 60k visas in a month to avoid visas going waste.
None was honest enough to say the unused visas expire on 09/30 NOT 06/30.
So, why the mad rush to give out all visas by 06/30?? We all know why..
Well on that she will just pass the buck to USCIS -- that was their problem -- and USCIS is DHS' problem not DOS (her Dept).

11th and 12th were added later because by Saturday evening when the core team decided to support this campaign, we weren't entirely sure if delivery on the 10th was still possible.
However, majority of flowers are going to be delivered on the 10th so I wanted to keep the focus on that single date.
If you want to go ahead with co-ordinating the actual sending then please go ahead - I think it will be very helpful.
The emails should be sent from the mediacontact email address (attach the pdf - Subject should be "Press Release" with a two line intro). I can compile the list of emails from some of the postings here in IV. Make sure that you Bcc it.
As for the faxes, they can be sent from the local Staples. However, someone has to get those numbers first. Anyone here who can do that? Does IV have a list of fax numbers (Especially those in Washington DC)?
Also, I think we should include a phone number in the media contact. Someone here who can represent us. Anyone used to handling the media.

Does this mean, if someone has never done FP for 485, will need to do it now for EAD even if it is paper based?

GC comes with a 'sleeve' to keep the card safely. The pouch in the sleeve have special silver lining to prevent 'de-magnetisation' over the period. Please, take due care as its not easy to get replacement.
I was advised so, at SSA. As I was about to put the card in my wallet (Ya, I went to SSA to update my ssn) gentleman at the window interrupted me. I thought I should share this small tip with IVian fella.
Good luck to everyone !!
it is not to prevent 'de-magnetization' but to prevent rfid communication. All new passport and other govt id 'cards' ship with rfid chip in them which contains encrypted biometrics info. Since rfid info can be read even 10 meters away with right equipment, it is better to put it in a metallic sleeve (creating a Faraday cage) to prevent anyone from sniffing then biometrics info.
here is more info ..
SecureIDNews | New U.S. 'Green Card' using optical stripe, RFID technology (http://www.secureidnews.com/2010/05/12/new-u-s-green-card-using-optical-stripe-rfid-technology)
edit: some additional info, mythbusters did a segment on the myth of demagentized credit card. It would take a really very strong magnet to demagnetize the strip, definitely not the kind you would carry in your pocket.

[QUOTE=desi3933] 245.1 Eligibility.
(a) General. Any alien who is physically present in the United States, except for an alien who is ineligible to apply for adjustment of status under paragraph (b) or (c) of this section, may apply for adjustment of status to that of a lawful permanent resident of the United States if the applicant is eligible to receive an immigrant visa and an immigrant visa is immediately available at the time of filing of the application. A special immigrant described under section 101(a)(27)(J) of the Act shall be deemed, for the purpose of applying the adjustment to status provisions of section 245(a) of the Act, to have been paroled into the United States, regardless of the actual method of entry into the United States.
[Emphasis added for clarity]
this clause is very clear
the last one posted did not say you cannot apply
only who can actually be adjusted....

I am not sure what SOL stands for.
But I can assure you that EB-3 ROW has very little hope. My estimate was that EB3-ROW's wait times were around 5-6 years.
But now, I have a feeling, that its going to be more like 10+ years. And 10+ years is a long time. Some sort of reform will happen in the next five or six years, and even that reform is not likely to get us greencards, since it may emphasize the family-based applicants.
Alisa, Your PD is March'07, and you could file in July'07. That was great for you. It is a bigger problem for those waiting to file. Others are theoritically in the admin process, though it would take a long time to complete. Technically visa was available for everyone in July'07,that's why all could file as it is a legal requirement for I-485 filing. Now they are just waiting to have the admin process completed.
