Well guys...
I agree that India is a land of pollution - polluted air and polluted minds (corruption, jealousy, materialistic attitude), it is still a very native part of our life. No matter where we live on this planet, whatever hapens in India, we do get affected by it.
I just visited India after 7 years. As far as India goes, I love:
-- My parents living there, perhaps they will never come to USA to stay with me permanently, and
-- The school kids I see on road in their school uniform, waiting for their school vans or walking as a group, making jokes and laughing out of their breath.
I always wonder that they do not know what hardhsip lies ahead of them, when they grow up after finishing their school - competition to get college admission, studies, competitive jobs, corruption, ever rising cost of living, etc. etc.
Most of my old friends in India have gone too busy in making money and 'rising on the top". It is as if they are in some kind of a race in panic, so they don't get left behind everybody else and what not.
What does "rising on the top" mean anyway? Whom are you collecting money for?
I recently bought the latest Samsung 3D LED TV to have a better movie experience. And I noticed that I enjoyed movies on small 22" inch TV more than I enjoy on a big LED TV - provided the movie is good and I have a good company.
So my friend (who is leaving for India)...
You can find happiness and joy in little things in life, irrespective of where you are staying. These commodities are not exclusively sold in India or anywhere else.
If you have made a decision to move to India, be proud of it and do it! Just set a good example in india and don't get involved in the dirty corrupted cycles there.

Any updates on your end? I am in the same situation. My wife received hers over a week ago but I am still waiting. Approval notice received more than 2 weeks ago.

This guy is a deshi employer. He is on H1 so he is a silent partner & that why scratching his head.
There are attorneys who will charge only after recovering money. The stupid employer can be sued for lost wages along with civil penalties from which the attorney's fee will be paid.
You can view my past posts in IV, I am not Desi employer but I may become very soon to employ myself (very close to get GC :-) )
Anyway have you gone through yourself with same situation/tension as OP going through or do you know someone closely who have gone through? Have you dealt with attorney yourself?
If that employer sue you, definitely you can counter sue for violation of wage related or h1b related rules and attorney will be the best person to advice you on that. make sure you go to an attorney who practice employement laws and have knowledge or have some other attorney in the same firm who deals in immi related matter. But question is, do you want to go through nightmare of law suites or you just want peace of mind.

It is indeed ugly and disgusting that anyone who talks of doing good to EB3 ends up getting reds. IV should remember that EB3 members outnumber EB2's by a vast margin and they deserve to get justice too
And it is not as if EB3's are less qualified. Most are as much or more qualified and experienced than EB2's. It is just an accident they are in EB3, as companies put them there when there was no difference in USCIS policy between the two
If I continue to see the treatment meted out to EB3's in these forums I would take the decision to quit IV..

What does ADIT processing means any idea is that we need to go to local USCIS office for the interview?

I got card production email on 19th night (20th) August... got approval email on 22nd . Received welcome notice physical mail on 25th August-- So far not received Green cards nor Approval notice. As per email received it says -- Approval was mailed on 22nd AUgust. Anybody in same boat ??

Option 1: Spouce can wait the retrogression out in AP/EAD.
Option 2: Primary can become a citizen in 5 years and then "upgrade" the I485 to a new FB category with no retrogression.
Without this joint filing if either category is current - it can cause nightmares for the dependent if the primary gets a GC and the dependent loses H4/L2.

The career growth, job mobility and qualify of life of these half a million legal skilled immigrants is subverted by the bill in its current form.
1. Section 501(b) reduces the number of green cards to legal skilled immigrants from the current 140,000/year to 90,000/year and diverts the major portion of those green cards to future low-skills guest workers under the Y visa program. Instead of increasing that number to reduce the backlogs this section take a step backwards and would exacerbate the backlogs. Your points are correct. The real question is how many more can the country take without going unsympathetic to immigration. That's their country and their decision you know.
You guys migh want to read this, if you haven't done so that already. Great article that helps you understand the shift in posture. I am afraid that things will get rougher for us. Fortunately we are in the best position possible, if we learn how to take advantage of this situation (assuming that we ever get the GC!).

Fact is the modern western cultures that empower women, encourage them to the workplace, make contraception/abortion freely available and make alternative lifestyles a choice, leads to a drop in fertility rates. Liberal leaning countries have amongst the lowest fertility rates, well below replacement levels.
The above makes it an imperative to import labour and yes sheer people to take care of the old and infirm, to keep the service sector rolling even if manufacturing etc is outsourced. The only question is what kind of immigration and how much of it. In short the answer is the USA is not a dumb country, it generally always acts in its self interest faced with these choices. I believe EB immigration will soon be liberalised. This would be a smart thing especially if coupled with a crackdown on illegal immigration.
US population is growing yes, but the elderly population is exploding. More are getting older (baby boomers) and once there there they are sticking aroung longer. I wish there was a measure of working age population only, the growth of that population is probably much less than that of the general population.

We need many people working everyday continuously over a period of time. It cannot be --"As and when I get time, i will try. Or I am already contributing by posting ideas on the forum. Or I am EB2 and my date will be current soon so I do not really care, I am not desperate for green card so do not bother me by contacting me. Or IV is for EB2 and I am EB3. Or IV is for Indians and I am ROW." Stop thinking IV just a forum like other forums of lawyers or trackers where the aim is to make money from the long wait and run a business. Here we want to fix the problem so that we no longer need Immigration Voice and all of us can move on in our lives and professional careers.
There have been times when we evaluated our decision of continuing this work after hearing lot of negative comments from our community or seeing lack of participation. A recent proof is the recent funding drive for advocacy day and our thousands of phone calls to members asking them to come to DC. It is not easy to organize any event and it takes lot of planning and funds. None of the members who used to write negative posts after every visa bulletin urging IV to do an event in DC came to DC event or even contributed. Many in the IV team are still involved with this effort even after getting their greencards only to succeed in what we all started out to do together. The commitment needs to be there so that many people can help out even during the day time. One option is for members to have their homemaker spouses volunteer for IV work. We have so many ideas we can work on if there are more sincere people who commit to helping out. Funds are also important. AILA has a budget of 13 million dollars/yr and they can do a lot in terms of advocacy, filing lawsuits, talking with offices on regular basis, organizing conferences each year where lawyers pay to hear USCIS officials, media outreach, meeting other organizations etc etc . They have people in DC to go and meet offices on daily basis. Likewise anti-immigrants too have millions of dollar budgets. You do not see their forums filled with posts of infighting. suspicion and baseless arguments that we have. Many of our posts do not even project us as well educated and mature individuals. We can blame whoever we want-- employers, government, lawyers, karma.... but the real reason why this retrogression problem still exists is because all of us in the community have allowed it to exist. imho coming to the US was the worst mistake of my life. it took me about 5 years to see through the lies that the system, the employers and other desis propogate regarding h1 and prospects in US.
you can't get fair treatment as long as you are on h1. that is why the others will not let you get out of h1.

Even if we have five people agree to file this class action lets do it .....
Once we have this law suit filled I'm sure will have the visiblity and whole band wagon will behind us.
1, Let choose an attorney who understands our pain wants to fight for our cause. if its Rajiv Khanna so be it.
2, Whatever the inital attorney consultion let split the consultation fee between five of us.
3, Once we have a stream lined class action in place will gather more people.

I absolutely agree what you said this will atleast help us to predict where we are with the processing ..If this whole thing is going to take 22 years tell us now..so we won't F****** throw away our life waiting for it.
Lets file a lawsuit to get the info in a manner we need:
1) breakdown of processing dates in a manner that co relates to visa bulletin.
i.e.: tell us how many petitions by per country are pending/processed and processing dates by country and category. Atleast USCIS is answerable to visa bulletin.
2) Visa usage by category reporting each month
(How many petitions were approved are pending by visa category and by country) (here I mean just I140 and I485). Adjust the numbers if there are denials.
This will atleast help everyone predict whats going to happen in recent months. One of the heartburns we have is no information comes out of USCIS and we are held hostage to what oppenheim says or Aytes says or Sheela Murthy says. This is public information so lets try and get it public every month.

08/12/08 - Approval Notice Sent message (This is the only message I got)
08/18/08 - Received the Approval notice by post
No cards till now...:confused:
